A mafia don – turned politician Atiq Ahmed has been convicted in abduction case of 2006. The MP/MLA court at Prayagraj, pronouncing the judgement convicted Atiq Ahmad and three others in the 2006 kidnapping of lawyer Umesh Pal, the main witness in the killing of Bahujan Samaj Party lawmaker Raju Pal. Umesh Pal was shot dead in Prayagraj on February 24.
Atiq and a former corporator Dinesh Pasi have been convicted under Section 364 A ( Kidnapping a person and to put the person in danger of being murdered ) of IPC among others.
Earlier, Atiq Ahmed reached Naini Jail of Prayagraj from Sabarmati Jail of Ahmedabad yesterday evening. Today on Atiq was produced before MP – MLA Court. The court was supposed to pronounce the judgement in 17 years old Umesh Pal case. The case was regarding the kidnapping of Umesh Pal, who fell prey to Atiq’s conspiracy and was murdered in the broad day light on February 24.
In 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal was shot dead. Umesh Pal was prime witness in this case. Atiq and his aides allegedly abducted him in 2006 and forced to give a statement in their favor in the court. A charge sheet was filed in the case where Atiq and his aides were made accused in the case. Today The court will pronounce its judgement in the case. Atiq’s brother and former MLA Ashraf has also been brought to Naini jail from Bareilly central jail. There are 11 accused in the kidnapping case, including both Atiq and Ashraf. The court will pronounce its judgement in the case.
