Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been disqualified as a Member of Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction in the criminal defamation case over his remarks about the surname of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. It means his membership of Parliament has been cancelled. The Lok Sabha Secretariat, issuing a notofication,has given this information.
However, the court yesterday granted him bail immediately and suspended the order for 30 days and permitted him to appeal the judgment in a higher court.
