On Monday, The Lok Sabha approved the Finance Bill, 2023, amid slogans of ‘Modi, Adani bhai, bhai’ by the MPs from Opposition parties. Earlier, Rajya Sabha passed and returned the 1) Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation and 2) Finance Bill to the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha was earlier adjourned till 11 am, after the Opposition continued its uproar over various issues, including Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification and the Adani issue. Earlier in the day, Congress MPs hurled papers at the Chair, Lok Sabha adjourned seconds after it commenced, till 4 pm on Monday.
Today once again the ruling and opposition parties created uproar in both the houses of Parliament, with proceedings got adjourned within a few minutes after its commencement amid large scale protests by MPs. Lok Sabha adjourned till 4 pm. Slogans were raised about the Adani Group issue and Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification. Later on, the opposition MPs staged protests near the Gandhi statue in Parliament wearing black clothes over Adani issue.
Meanwhile, the opposition seems to be uniting once again against Adani. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and UPA president Sonia Gandhi also participated in it. The opposition is continuously demanding a JPC probe in the matter.
‘Dal mein kuchh kala hai’: Kharge
According to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, 18 political parties jointly demand to form a Joint Parliamentary Committee. It will bring out the truth and people will be aware about the reason behind our demand. He asked,” Why do you afraid of JPC? You have 2/3 majority with most of the members from your party . “It means that there is something wrong (Dal mein kuchh kala hai),” Kharge added.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh also said their demand in Parliament is about JPC, it is only in the interest of Modi ji and Adani. Through JPC, the country avails a chance to discuss the issues. The government is not listening to JPC demand as there is something wrong. He added, “Modi ji and Adani are nervous.”
Both houses adjourned
Even today, the proceedings of both the houses of Parliament could not proceed further. The uproar over the issue of Rahul Gandhi’s membership started as soon as the proceedings began in line of the expection. Due to ruckus, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the Lok Sabha till 4 pm. The opposition MPs also raised slogans in the Rajya Sabha, following the ruckus, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm.
