Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, unveiled the Bharat 6G Vision and launched the 6G research and development test bed. PM also inaugurated Innovation Center and the new International Telecommunication Union Area Office in capital. Addressing the Sanchar Kranti program, PM said,” Digital economy of India is progressing rapidly. PM Modi added that the digital economy has progressed 2.5 times faster than India’s economy.
New opportunities will be created for innovation
PM also said, “The inauguration of area office, innovation center of ITU and also 6G testbed project of India has taken place today. It will prove beneficial in the terms of digitalization. New opportunities will be created for innovation through them. Today India, with 100 crore mobile phones, is the most connected democracy in the world.” Referring increase in digital payment, PM said, “UPI based digital payments worth more than Rs.800 crore take place every month. Currently, in India 7 crore E-Authentications are executed daily.”
5G service made available in 125 cities in 120 days
India, at present, has advanced one more step in the direction of Digital Revolution. PM Modi added India has executed 5G roll out at the fastest pace in the world with launching of 5G service in 125 cities within 120 days. 5G service is now available in 350 districts of India. Now we are talking about 6G and commencing the testing of 6G network. The pace of digital demonstrates the confidence of India, hence one vision document has been presented for 6G rollout.
Telecom tower permit takes only 7 days
Addressing the inaugural session of India’s 6G Testbed Project, Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a few years back, a permit for a telecom tower used to take 220 days, now it takes only 7 days. India’s 5G rollout is the fastest in the world, with 1,15,000 sites offering 5G signals.
