Gandhinagar: Recently a mega search operation was conducted in 17 jails of Gujarat. The issue was discussed today in the assembly. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi gave an important statement in the house about the security of jails. He said new jammers with 5G technology will be installed in the jails. It is necessary to maintain the security of more than 16 thousand inmates in the jails. Such raids will be conducted in coming days in the jails.
SOG to investigate banned goods
Pankaj Desai, MLA from Nadiad, said that 1700 policemen have checked 17 jails of the state. Live investigation was done in the jail, during the search 16 mobiles have been recovered. Also 10 electrical items, 39 deadly items, 3 intoxicating items have been found. During the raid smoking items have also been recovered from 10 jails. In addition, cooking utensils, pen drives have been recovered. however, no prohibited items were found in 5 out of 17 jails, banned items will be checked by SOG.
Simultaneous search operation conducted in 17 jails
Minister of State for Home Harsh Shanghvi had a video conference meeting on Friday evening with Police Commissioners and District Police Chiefs of 17 districts including Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara and Kutch. The officers including Crime Branch, SOG and Staff were instructed to stay ready and alert. Suddenly at nine pm, they were instructed to go to the jails of their districts and cities with body worn cameras. IN the history of Gujarat, about 1700 police officers and employees conducted a mega search operation in all the jails for the first time.
